RAmos realise Android tablet on next week?

Chinese portable multimedia player maker RAmos will soon release an Android-powered mobile Internet device that will have the capability of playing back 1080p high-definition videos, according to a recent Pocketables report. The official release is expected to come at a press event on Friday, September 25th, with the device based largely on, if not simply a rebadged version of, the Rockchip Android-powered MID concept spotted last month. The device will sport an ARM chip and is said to be capable of playing back 1080p MKV (H.264/VC-1), AVI (XviD/DivX), and other video formats with 30-40Mbps bitrates. Visually, the Rockchip concept and the Ramos device look identical, but the former was said to use the Rockchip RK2808 chipset, which is said to have support only for 720p videos. It is therefore believed the RAmos device will have a different graphics chipset.

BenQ will release some devices on the basis of Android

BenQ general manager Peter Chen has informed that BenQ company in connection with growing popularity of platform Google Android plans to release some smart phones and netbooks on the basis of this OS by 2010. He has underlined, that first will be presented Android-phones working on hardware platforms Intel and Qualcomm, and portable computers will be release later. In spite of the fact that the operational system is financially more accessible to developers, the amount of accessible software products still is not enough, that is a barrier to small suppliers of the personal computer, has noted Chen. Several years ago company BenQ had certain weight in the world mobile market, but acquisition of mobile division Siemens has led only to losses and loss of trust of buyers. Now BenQ hopes to restore the name and influence with new smart phones on the basis of Android.
